Dr. Phil Bondurant Named Outstanding Public Health Professional

State association honors local health officer for over a decade of community-centered leadership

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Dr. Phil Bondurant, Health Officer for the Summit County Health Department, has been named an Outstanding Public Health Professional by the Utah Association of Local Boards of Health (UALBOH).

The recognition highlights Dr. Bondurant’s dedication to expanding services, deepening community partnerships, and ensuring residents can access the health programs they need in his 12 years with Summit County Health.

Recently, that work has included steering the county through a comprehensive community health improvement plan, expanding health department communication channels, guiding the department toward formal public health accreditation and navigating federal funding uncertainties while maintaining services to the public.

“This award reflects Phil’s dedication to public health and his genuine commitment to the people of Summit County,” the Board of Health said in the nomination. “His leadership has made a real difference in the health and well-being of our community.”
