Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for all Summit County residents by improving community awareness of mental health & substance abuse, increasing access to effective treatment, and increasing effective prevention efforts.

Expand community access to mental health & substance abuse programs and services in Summit County.

Prevention

In Summit County, strong values and healthy families are hallmarks of our way of life. The Summit County Health Department Prevention Team is committed to protecting our residents of all ages from painful consequences associated with substance misuse and abuse and other behavioral health problems.

Effective Prevention Work requires a data-driven approach to assess levels of risk and protective factors that predict problem behaviors. The team analyzes data from many different sources to determine strategies for our community. The foundation of our services is evidence-based which offers proven ways to promote health and prevent problems. They are based on research and provide documented health benefits, so you can be confident they work.

Free Gun Safes for Summit County Residents and Workers

Complete the LIVE ON Suicide Prevention Playbook training and get a free gun safe. A crisis chat and tip line that provides real-time crisis intervention for students, parents/guardians, and educators. With live chat and a confidential tip line help is at your fingertips.

Secure firearm storage reduces suicide risk by limiting access during moments of crisis. The LIVE ON training teaches warning signs, how to help someone, and how to save a life.

Gun safes are XXxXX and can fit up to two handguns. Supplies are limited. Summit County residents or people who work in Summit County are eligible.
