TOP HEALTH PRIORITIES
- Affordable Housing
The lack of affordable housing emerged as the most significant issue, impacting residents’ financial stability, mental health, and access to care. - Healthcare Access
While Summit County scored high in healthcare coverage, challenges remain in accessing culturally appropriate care, mental health services, and treatment for substance use disorders. - Behavioral and Mental Health
Mental health services are in high demand, with concerns about limited access to counseling and behavioral health support. - Climate Change Impacts
Community conversations highlighted the perceived health risks of climate change, including wildfire risks, droughts, and their effects on local agriculture and air quality. - Transportation and Public Transit
Improved transportation options were identified as a need, particularly in underserved rural areas. - Chronic Diseases
Heart disease, cancer, and unintentional injuries are the leading causes of death. Cancer incidence is notably high, with melanoma, prostate, and breast cancer rates above state averages.
