The Summit County Health Department is issuing a 30-day formal notice and comment period during which the public can review the proposed Population-based density Cap for the number of Tobacco Retail Permits issued by the Summit County Health Department and submit comments to the Health Department in writing by email or mail or in person at the September 9th Board of Health Meeting.

Public notice is hereby given that the Summit County Board of Health (“Board”) in accordance with UCA §26A-1-121, will conduct a public hearing to discuss and possibly take action regarding Population-based Density Cap for the number of Tobacco Retail Permits issued by the Summit County Health Department. The Summit County Health Department finds the research surrounding youth accessibility to tobacco products, including the density of tobacco retailers, is compelling and that restricting access can have a positive influence on preventing youth tobacco use.

Proposed changes to the Summit County Code of Health, Title 1, Chapter 9, to add Section 1-9-7, Population and Density Cap.
