CONNECT is pleased to announce a new peer support group for the parents, friends, and family of children and adults living with mental health challenges. As Lynne Rutan, one of the founders of CONNECT, explains: “Sometimes we just need to talk to someone who’s been there.” Natalie Herron, the CONNECT board member creating the program, emphasizes that: “This will be a safe, friendly and trusting space where confidentiality is expected and maintained.” The conversations, facilitated by Janet DeMars of Red Willow Counseling and Recovery, will bring her own personal experience to the meetings. “This is not therapy. It’s a chance to learn and talk with others experiencing the same types of issues and by doing so to support each other.”

The conversations will be held the last Tuesday of each month, starting January 30th, from 6:15 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at the Kimball Junction branch of the Summit County Library in Room 133 (Downstairs in a conference room next to the DMV). Participation is free. The suggested age for participation is 18 and up, with parental discretion advised. For more information, please contact CONNECT at We look forward to seeing you!
