Communicating and Connecting with your Tween and Teen in the Age of Smartphones and Social Media
March 6 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm| Free
Please join us at North Summit High School (Library) where CONNECT will host Communicating and Connecting with your Teen in the Age of Smartphones and Social Media. Social media and smartphones are having a profound impact on the way adolescents today communicate with one another, filter their lives, and spend their free time. Face-to-face conversations can be messy and lack the distance and control of digital interactions. This event will explore the modern day teen experience with social media and illustrate how parents can learn to actively listen, be supportive, and improve communications with their adolescents. The program, by way of providers and teens themselves, will offer ways in which parents can help their teens/tweens responsibly manage their online presence. The program will also better acquaint parents with all of the online apps currently available to our young people. You will learn how to better help your teen become engaged with activities that have nothing to do with external validation, smart phones, or social media. This event is free and open to the public. We will be meeting in the Library located inside North Summit High School.
